SPEAKER BIO

Julia Buchanan Swart is a graduate of the University of Cape Town, having completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Painting from the Michaelis School of Fine Art, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship. She is a creative individual with a demonstrated track record of working in art museums and galleries, most notably Zeitz MOCAA, where she did an internship, and Norval Foundation, where she was an integral part of the opening team. Julia’s passion lies in exploring ways of creating access for emerging artists and aspiring art professionals to refine their practice as well as taking African art to the rest of the world through technology, which has led to her founding Art School Africa; a non-profit, web-based platform designed to assist individuals in navigating the art industry in South Africa and wider Africa. She is currently reading for her Executive Masters in Cultural Leadership at the Royal Academy of Arts in London and the Maastricht School of Business and Economics.
